First I must say, it's 62 and SUNNY in the frozen tundra of MI. My tulips are starting to sprout little green sprigs of hope. There is NO snow left anywhere in my yard, there is however giant lakes of water from the thaw and mud EVERYWHERE but I cracked my windows yesterday and got some fresh air which was awesome! Okay proceeding with the real reason for this post...
Nobody warned me that marriage would make you crave Friday nights at home with the hubby, popcorn and national television. I'm not complaining, it's awesome but funny how time changes what we think of as "a good time". Anyway, Bradley and I were hunkered down on our sofa last Friday flipping through the channels and we came across a new show on NBC called "Who Do You Think You Are?" It follows celebrities as they trace their family tree back in history. SO INTERESTING.
This show got me thinking about my relation. I don't know much about my family. My maternal grandparents are Polish & German, but were born here and I have NO clue what my father's are. I had such a unique and uncommon maiden name (Adamets) and when strangers would ask what nationality it was I had nothing to tell them.
I talked to my husband and one of my goals on my "bucket list" is to find out some family history. I could be related to bathtub gin runners or early settlers of the colonies, and like everyone else I am related to some immigrants who came here with a dime in their pocket and a dream of a better life. I'll never know what amazing things my relation may have been a part of until I start looking.
PS~Kudos to NBC for the refresh spring line up - Marriage Ref? Yes please! Although don't think I have forgotten about the whole Connan/Leno business.
